A proper bar and an open dining room, a snug oak panelled longue and three open fires, exposed timbers, thick beams and meandering floors, it’s easy to be cossetted in this ancient inn. In the shadow of St Mary’s Church tower, a terrace to admire our Elizabethan staircase, a walled garden to let kids and dogs loose, to sit back and ponder a route to the cottage of Willy Lot.
